Astrology for 2021 – Seeing Beyond 2020

The Winter Solstice 2020 was remarkable, and rare. It set the tone for 2021 and beyond. I think of it as a progressive wave of potential that we cosmic surfers can ride. An Aquarian wave.

Jupiter and Saturn aligned in Aquarius; this is the beginning of a 20 year economic and cultural cycle, among other things. Furthermore, it is the beginning of a 200 year Air Element Phase.

What can we expect? For one thing, humanity uses technology to further the collective dream.

Are you game?

Jupiter entered Aquarius in December 2020 and by mid May 2021 will be on to Pisces. Fishing.

By late July 2021 he’ll be back doing committee work in another Aquarian project.

Some of these sky patterns affect nations and civilizations, and we mere mortals can tag along – if we pay attention. Things to consider:

  • using lunar cycles and transits “like magic” See my YouTube channel on this theme.
  • planets above, memories within
  • there are individual and national charts to consider, like the USA, born on the 4th of July
  • feeling impulses and/or exercising Free Will. How will You command your ship?

In the meantime, we are still waiting for 2020 to be over. The world-wide pandemic is still a thing. In the USA we have quite a stew.

January 2021

New Moon 13 January – right on the Saturn-Pluto conjunction a year ago.

Another wave in Covid = almost 2 million deaths worldwide and almost 400,000 in the USA by that date. As we all know, Trump was impeached again, and saved by his cronies in the Senate. (He is Gemini, the Twins, so things happen in twos.)

Neptune square Nodes, Pisces to Gemini-Sagittarius from December 2020 – March 2021

= the masses and their beliefs; on the bright side, inspiration, art, music, ideals … But confusion, deception and “facts” … ah yes, those pesky facts. This is not only true in the US; this square shines upon the world – sometimes like fools’ gold.

Some Questions to ponder for 2021:

Did the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction that just occurred affect everyone or just certain people and nations? Well, watch those sensitive degrees, starting with early degrees fixed and air signs.

Do planets make something happen, as in fate or destiny? … I search for patterns, degrees and themes.

Bottom line, … the Will should be aligned with Spirit! What is Your ideal?

Is this the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius?!

– we’re already there, since 1781! That was when the ruler of Aquarius was discovered.

Let’s take a look at the most recent alignment; Jupiter/Saturn now in Aquarius and conjuncting in Air signs for the next 200 years. Yay!

Learning from history:

There is a parallel dance of Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions between December 11, 1166 and February 14, 1425, for the Great Chronocrator made its initial entrance into Libra, an air sign, on November 8, 1186. (like 1980!) Think Magna Carta and Francis of Assisi. It then returned to an earth sign (Taurus) on April 16, 1206 (like 2000!).

Finally, it re-entered the air element (Aquarius) and began its Great Mutation from earth to air on March 4, 1226, where it continued for the next seven cycles, ending in 1425. What happened? Remember, this was during the Age of Pisces, and religion was in the center of things.

The philosophical and religious scriptures and Classics were being rediscovered, and research and study was encouraged. And that was world wide, from Buddhism to Confucianism to Taoism and the Western traditions. In Europe students gathered and hired teachers! These grew into colleges, then many universities were founded in these years! Astrology was in the curriculum by the way.

After that it was time for water signs … and ship voyages discovering new lands and cultures, and the High Renaissance of art, music, paintings and architecture. We won’t get to that water phase, however, until 2159, near the winter solstice! Then begins another 200 year cycle – in Water.

Just in time for Star Trek!

What a cosmic symphony!

and now we are in the Aquarian Age with the elemental alignment of Aquarius … and the Asian New Year just began on February 12th in Aquarius, and a stellium there. The Year of the Ox, and the ruler of Aquarius is in Taurus. What a line up!

So, a quick summary: we’re now in Fixed Air Aquarius – we are collectively moving towards weighed wisdom, science, design and facts. Watch for new technologies and innovations! People gather to study, the founding of new ways to learn, or re-thinking universities; there will be new places of learning, and astrology, symbology and psychic abilities will be important studies in many of our new learning centers or universities. It will be time to initiate or join a humanitarian organization! Here is another Edgar Cayce perspective:

Aquarius

Since the conjunction is occurring in the constellation of Aquarius, Cayce taught that there will be those abilities to analyze any undertaking. However, he did warn to be caution with this and temper the Aquarius tendencies to do so without considering others. Such will bring experiences for the lack of cooperation with those with whom we become affiliated. Soul groups and subgroups tend to think of themselves with a lack of cooperation with others, especially with groups who have differing views.

Cooperation was Cayce’s number one lesson for humanity, as individuals and as a collective family.

2021

The big alignment this year is the Saturn (waning) square Uranus … this will be tense in many respects, for cautious Saturn in liberal Aquarius will square radical Uranus in conservative Taurus! Contemplate the following …

  • mask wearing: One faction is willing to mask-up to prevent viral spread (the Saturn side), and the other refuses because of a belief in their freedom and right not to cover their face (the Uranus side). Interestingly, the BLM protesters (Uranus) were also those more likely to wear a mask, while the supporters of the disgraced Trump administration (Saturn) riot were not.

This is the waning square of the Saturn–Uranus synodic cycle that began almost exactly 33 years ago, when the two planets aligned on February 12, 1988, at 29°58′ Sagittarius. That was close to the Galactic Center as well as the Solstice degree. You shoulda been there! It was a heady time.

1988 was a crucial year in the early history of the Internet— Let’s not congratulate ourselves too quickly, for it was the year of the first well-known computer virus, the 1988 Internet worm. The first permanent intercontinental Internet link was made between the United States (NSFNET) and Europe (Nordunet) as well as the first Internet-based chat protocol, Internet Relay Chat. The concept of the World Wide Web was first discussed at CERN in 1988. Note the government/Saturn involvement with technology/Uranus.
1988. Gorbachev and “glasnost” or opening. The Soviet Union began its major deconstructing towards a mixed economy at the beginning of 1988 and unknowingly began its gradual dissolution. The Iron Curtain began to disintegrate in 1988 as Hungary began allowing freer travel to the West.

The World Health Organization began its mission to eradicate polio. (Notice a pattern to 2021?)

January 26 – The Phantom of the Opera, the longest running Broadway play ever, opens. Think about the characters, story line and tension and these planetary pulls!

February 27–29 – Perestroika or “restructuring” leading to the Collapse of the Soviet Union. Smaller republics like Estonia, Latvia and Armenia push for reforms, and ended up achieving independence.
February 3 – The Democratic-controlled United States House of Representatives rejects President Ronald Reagan’s request for $36 million to support the Nicaraguan Contras. What a convoluted web that was.
February 12 – The 1988 Black Sea bumping incident: Soviet frigate Bezzavetnyy intentionally rams USS Yorktown in Soviet territorial waters while Yorktown claims innocent passage.
March 13 – Gallaudet University, a university for the deaf in Washington, D.C., elects Dr. I. King Jordan as the first deaf president in its history. This conclusion of the Deaf President Now campaign is a turning point in the deaf civil rights movement.
March 16 – Iran–Contra affair: Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North and Vice Admiral John Poindexter are indicted on charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States. Wow, conservative involvement pushing for their narrow world-view, flags waving, and getting away with … murder.
First Republic Bank of Texas fails and enters FDIC receivership, the largest FDIC assisted bank failure in history. Texas is in the news during this first conjunction of Saturn and Uranus in February 2021; a bitter snowstorm caught those citizens off guard and the reactionary Texas politicians of the past were to blame. Why? The separatist electrical grid system had broken away from “evil” FDR controls in the 1930s! (Look up ERCOT = Electric Reliability Council of Texas)

Yes, Saturn square Uranus

We had a taste of it last spring 2020. Social distancing, masks, coordinated effort. Cleaning the environment – water and air. Many scientists and researchers started working on a cure for Covid. Technology and work. My YouTube channel! Zoom, Skype, online meetings, tele-commuting, saving gas and time. Meeting more like-minded contacts online. Going global!

Check out these times; Saturn square Uranus – 3 exact waning squares in 2021

* February 17, 2021, at 7°13′ Aquarius–Taurus

Moon conj Uranus in Taurus adds to this exact aspect, bringing personal feelings to the fore. Have your buttons been pushed in February 2021? Distrustful of or unhappy with government? Censorship shows up with social media/ Facebook jail; what does freedom mean for you? Social responsibility?

* June 14, 2021, at 13°06′ Aquarius–Taurus

Moon Leo opp Saturn square Uranus … will the people get riled up again?!

* December 24, 2021 at 11°05′ Aquarius–Taurus

Moon opp Jupiter 29 Leo – Aquarius … don’t overreact!

Venus conj Pluto 26 Cap near the USA natal Pluto position. Yes, the USA Pluto return just keeps on giving… merry Christmas!

Mercury retrogrades 2021:

in Aquarius from January 30 to February 20

in Gemini from 29 May – 22 June

in Libra 27 September – 18 October

When a Mercury retrograde period is upon us I often get questions of foreboding and worry. This mercurial dance happens three times a year. Do not fear retrogrades. As someone who was born with Mercury retrograde, I can assure you it is not a scary thing. As for me, I appreciate history, reflection and editing; collecting memories, notes and bits of information.

The biggest issue is that if one make an appt while Mercury is direct for a time later when it is retrograde, then just as soon as it retrogrades, call to confirm. Readjust your plans. Oftentimes a thought occurs to you that you did not consider. Old communiques and emails or texts get your attention. Re-view!

Mercury retrogrades are good for filing, ordering, stocking, considering, planning etc. Review and categorize, design and reconsider.

Carry on!

And then there is that Aries equinox on March 20

I set a chart for Washington DC on that date, and note a jolly Jupiter Rising in Aquarius in this USA chart. Not only that, but Venus is on the cusp, late Pisces – inspiring us to find the love and higher ideals. Positive vibes and good news. Reasons to celebrate.

Bottom line for 2021:

Here and in many other countries worldwide the citizens are recognizing that their governments are not working for them. Some reactionary governments will try to squash protest and rights. In the meantime, Aquarius gathers like-minded people to do it themselves. Cooperation, connecting and consensus.

That is collective Free Will and idealism! It is healthy to suspect rigid authorities, and facts and science need that classic freedom of open discussion and comparison of data. Study it all, and think for yourself.

Are you still game?!
